Launching brand new single ‘Run Me Down River’, Misty Harlowe put on a show representing country music proudly with class and style.

Down at the Lomond Hotel on a Friday night, Misty Harlowe gathered her band plus a few supporting friends for a fun night of tunes. Known for her artistry as a country blues songstress, Misty's performance was both heart-warming and entertaining.

Throughout the night, Misty highlighted her unique blend of country music with her dark and haunting tone enlisting central elements from the country genre, such as ballads, harmonies, and folk lyrics that were historically engraved. Lyrically, her songs ranged from mystery and tales of love, lust, and loss which corresponded well with the sound, colour, and overall aesthetic of her songs, vocal performance, and notable backing band.

Some mentions include ‘Sweet for a While’ and ‘Cowboy Junkie’ alongside an intuitive cover of ‘Bang Bang’ (My Baby Shot Me Down). Famously covered by Nancy Sinatra during the 60s, the same year of the song’s original release by Cher, Misty's version was great. Choosing to stick to the song's original roots whilst incorporating her country music style was a nice touch. The cover ended in a big jam led by lead guitarist Josh Boult who performed well with extraordinary skill throughout the entire set.

The venue, alongside the crowd in attendance, had the makings of a nicely knit community which made the additions of supporting act Sarah Catania and Patrick Wilson feel all the more welcomed. As the night drew to its close, Misty busted out ‘Run Me Down River. As mentioned, the crowd in attendance felt very supportive of one another, making the launch and first live performance of the single all the more exciting.

Starting softly before building steadily the crowd all gathered around in anticipation to hear the new tune by the Country Blues songstress, quickly begging for an encore as the band launched into their final song for the evening ‘Gold Fever’. A four-on-the-floor led groove that felt like an arena with everyone getting involved.

Misty Harlowe is a must-see artist if you are a fan of country and blues-inspired music. An artist who performs with confidence in her ability Misty is a talent that is up and coming and definitely must see.
